Facts & Frequently Asked Questions
When it comes to health problems, we understand there is no single treatment for everyone. We may need to engage a number of treatment tools to find one that is right for you to help accelerate your healing response. A protocol that works well for a friend or family member may not work as well for you. This is why it’s so important to get the right treatment that is appropriate for you.
You may have specific concerns or questions about any lifestyle changes they may be needed before starting a program. This is the purpose of a consultation and examination: to gather the information to help uncover the root cause of your problem.
Our website is a small portion of the complete story of how we help patients overcome health problems. That would take volumes. All we have tried to do is lay a foundation of answers to some of the most common questions asked. We have excluded many things people are curious about but that relate very little to a general question and answer session due to its detailed approach and interpretation.
For instance, we are now able to measure the bio-energetics of the body with Western diagnostic technology. This monitors your level of energy within your meridian system. The meridian’s influence on the body is crucial in the healing process.
Patient comfort is paramount. Old healing through acupuncture and acupuncture needles are not part of our treatments. New healing through laser and laser acutherapy is our method of choice.
Or maybe you’d like to learn more about the link between viruses and autoimmune disease and what more you can do. Or how about the concept that positive thinking may have the opposite effect you intend? Are you interested in epigenetics and how environmental signals, including thoughts and emotions, have been shown to directly influence DNA expression?
Overall, there are many procedures outside of the general content of this information. But we’ll be glad to tell you anything more you’d like to know.
Other terms, such as gua sha, tui na, meridian imaging, tei shen, laser acutherapy and dozens of others we’ve had to omit due to lack of space and you’re likely to encounter when you begin investigating various techniques and programs we integrate.
Many of these terms are defined at our live events or included in one of our newsletters or blogs. We cover many aspects of healing and how to shift your body from a dis-ease state to wellness.
To help identify the root cause of a health problem from a Functional Health and Euro-Asian approach, there are 3 questions to ask:
Is there a problem with my…
- Biochemistry? Specific blood and urine testing will be ordered.
- Energy System? A Meridian Imaging Score & Analysis will be completed.
- Structural System? A Physical Evaluation will be completed.
What Types Of Health Conditions?
Neurological & Immune System Imbalances, Obvious Spinal Problems, Visceral or Organic Complaints, Natural Health Care, Nutrition, Headaches or Migraines, Severe Fatigue, Inflammation, Joint, Neck or Back Pain, Maintenance & Prevention, Optimizing Health, Problems Due To Heavy Metal Toxicity & Stress Related Issues.
The World Health Organization, working with the International Acupuncture training center of the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has indicated Asian Medicine is effective for a variety of conditions. Here is a link to a Click Here.
How Does It Work?
Far too often, a patient is told after extensive examination, “There is nothing wrong,” or “Sorry, you’ll have to learn to live with it. The examining doctor, unable to find the root cause of the problem, has little else to tell the patient. Fortunately, many physicians are now referring their patients for a Meridian Evaluation as a last resort.
The human body’s energy flow courses over 12 meridians or channels that are normally well balanced. If a disruption of energy flow exists, it can alter the entire system, producing pain or symptoms in the body.
If we were to compare a 175 pound man on one end of a seesaw and a 47 pound child on the other end, it becomes obvious the seesaw would be “broken” due to the fact the heavier person would be sitting on the ground and lighter would be dangling in the air. Even though the seesaw is producing a symptom of being broken-extensive examination would not reveal anything wrong with the seesaw. The obvious answer is in the balance. Correction of the balance corrects the problem.
This is the goal: to restore normalcy to the body’ energy balance by utilizing a combination of Acu-points located on the twelve meridians. This is accomplished by a variety of means such as electronic stimulation or soft laser.
Medical research continues in this country and others to attempt to explain in western scientific terms what the ancient Chinese seventy centuries earlier described. Today, many theories have been postulated as to why Meridian Therapy is so effective in pain control. However, as more discoveries are made, more research is indicated.
What Is Functional Health?
Functional Health addresses the underlying causes of a health problem, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of health care that better addresses the needs of the 21st century.
Functional Health views us all as being different; genetically and biochemically unique. This personalized health care treats the individual, not the disease. It supports the normal healing mechanisms of the body, naturally, rather than attacking disease directly.
By shifting toward a more patient-centered approach, functional health addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional Health practitioners look deep into patient histories and identify the interactions among environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex chronic conditions.
What Is Meridian Therapy?
Meridian Therapy is a health science which is used to successfully treat both pain and dysfunction in the body.
Meridian Therapy has its roots deeply planted in the practice of Acupuncture in China. In fact, authorities agree the science is between 5,000 and 7,000 years old. Its use spread throughout ancient Egypt, the Middle East, the Roman Empire and later into Western Europe as merchants and missionaries to China told of the amazing discoveries the people of the Orient had developed. Acupuncture & Meridian Therapy did not become known on a national level in the US until 1971 when diplomatic relations between China and America were relaxed.
Early Chinese physicians discovered there is an energy network traversing just below the surface of the skin which communicates from the exterior to the internal organs and structures over 1,000 “Acupoints” on the body.
This energy works in harmony with the body’s circulatory, nervous, muscular, digestive, genitourinary and all other systems of the body. When this vital energy becomes blocked or weakened, an effect in a body system or anatomic location becomes evident. Stimulation of one or a combination of key “Acupoints” on the body may restore harmony to the affected area.
Historians have stated, “More people have benefited from Acupuncture and Meridian Therapy over the course of fifty centuries than the combined total of all other healing sciences, both ancient and modern.”
What Is Tui Na?
Even though chiropractic was discovered as a healing art in the late 1800’s, in America, the use of spinal mobilization in the Far and Near East is estimated to be over 7,000 years old.
Spinal vertebral therapy combined with soft tissue mobilization is known in the Orient as “Tui NA” is a vital part of the “Chung Guo I Hsueh” or translated as Middle Kingdom Healing. Tui Na plays a vital role in the recovery of a patient. Treatment is considered painless and pleasant.
Since all parts of the body to include all 300 trillion cells, are under the direct influence of the nervous system, the spinal column comprised of 24 movable segments plays an integral part in human functioning as it protects the spinal cord which sends large nerve trunks to the organs and structures of the body through small openings between the vertebrae.
What Is Laser Therapy?
Laser treatment is a non-invasive method to help reduce acute and chronic pain. The FDA approved laser offers patients more alternatives. Laser treatments take just minutes depending on the condition being treated. The treatment must be administered directly over the skin for better results.
Patients generally notice results after 7 to 10 treatment sessions. Laser technology has been used safely and effectively among the wide range of patient population for over 5 years in the US, and for over 20 years in other countries in physical therapy, orthopedics, outpatient clinics and elite athletes. Our laser is the “equipment of choice” for numerous national, professional and collegiate athletes and teams worldwide.
This innovative technology helps reduce pain and relieve stiffness all without the use of drugs or invasive surgery.
Will I Receive An Examination?
Yes. To help locate the root cause of your problem, a complete examination and meridian analysis is conducted. Your medical health history and consultation also play a vital role in determining what is abnormal.
Will I Need X-rays or Blood Tests?
If necessary, we will refer you to have diagnostic x-rays. This procedure is performed at an outside facility that specializes in diagnostic x-ray.
We, like most people, are concerned about the dosages of x-rays we receive. We will only recommend x-rays when we feel they are warranted.
Comprehensive blood tests play a crucial role in determining your biochemistry and nutritional status while also ruling out any heavy metal levels that may be present. This is using Western medicine diagnostics to help determine if nutrients are missing in your body. We can than integrate a targeted approach toward knowing precisely which vitamins and minerals are needed and eliminate the guessing game.
How Often Will I Need To Return For Treatment?
The number of treatments will depend upon the severity of your condition, number of months or years your condition has been present and your current health status and lifestyle. Some notice immediate improvement following a series of treatments, while others may not notice changes for a few months.
We do not encourage initiating a course of care with the intent of “trying a few” just to experiment. This is similar to asking a surgeon if you could try only 2 hours of a surgical procedure that requires 8 hours to see what happens.
Be patient with Mother Nature and your healing process by not putting too much pressure on yourself and remember it is always up to you how much you participate in your own healing.
Are Results Permanent?
For acute problems where there has been little or no organ system or tissue damage, results are often permanent.
For chronic conditions, symptoms may recur from time to time. Generally a few additional treatments are sufficient to obtain relief. It’s suggested that patients with severe or chronic conditions return for a booster treatment two to three times a year.
In either case, your lifestyle will have a significant impact on your results.
